Ambiance is very relaxing and dine in here can be fun. Must tries would be the vegetable spring rolls that are made from scratch, vegetable chopsuey, silken tofu with broccoli and shitake (Contains egg) and sesame toffee banana with ice cream.ĭecor wise the restaurant has a sense of balance with colored wall at one end to wooden tables. This is the kind of food that can make your day. Presentation wise the dishes were a bit weak but hey with food so good you’ve got to let go of fancy part. The food is really flavorful and the portion sizes are share-able. Tried out a some fabulous dishes right from the vegetable dumplings to the delicious toffee banana. I was been invited to review the place and as usual on a weekend I paid a visit. One of most buzzing Chinese restaurant’s is Chop Suey in Jumeirah 2. to Dubaites being more adventurous with their food choices, we have almost all cuisines here. When I moved back to Dubai, I realized I Chinese takeaways weren’t in the food scene. Especially from a tiny restaurant in Michigan, Dragon’s Treasure. I really do miss the authentic Chinese food that I use to get back in States. The large mural on the wall was unique and livened up the restaurant. The furniture was outdated but the exterior of the restaurant was very eye catching. The ambience was simple and had that western Chinese feel to it. The food and drinks came out quickly to the table. The service was great where the server was always keeping an eye on each table to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. The pricing of the dishes here were correct for this type of cuisine. I ordered the crystal prawn dumplings for 35DHS, crispy tiger prawn wontons for 35DHS, sauteed prawns Szechuan style for 69DHS, wok fried Singapore noodles with seafood for 38DHS, and the toffee banana with vanilla ice cream. This restaurant deserves a rating of 3/5. The bananas were tasty and the toffee shell on it was wonderful. The dessert was deep fried bananas with a sweet toffee shell along with vanilla ice cream with malteser chocolates and marshmallows. The seafood that was used in this dish were prawns and squid.įinally, the dessert was interesting. The wok fried Singapore noodles were good. The sauce was super thick and I had to basically scrape the sauce off to get to the prawns. The sauce was not spicy like what I’m used to when I have Szechuan dishes. The sauteed prawns in Szechuan sauce was very heavy and I had trouble enjoying this dish. The flavours of the prawns were not as strong in these. The shape was not like wontons but it was just deep fried balls of the tiger prawn mixture. The crispy tiger prawn wontons were different from what I envisioned them to look like. Even with overcooked prawns, the dumplings had a nice texture and was made nicely. The crystal prawn dumplings were the only dish. The dishes served here were good if I’m not comparing to the real dishes in Asia. My review for Chop Suey – It is hard for me to enjoy western Chinese food because I am overly obsessed with authentic Chinese cuisine.
